Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever.

We are thankful for all the volunteers who helped pull the Sunbury house together for the Open House.  The house looked beautiful, and the food was amazing.  We were so pleased to have about a dozen neighbors stop by to see the progress, as well as partners & family.    We got to meet a lady who’s grandparents lived in the house in the 1930s-1950s.  We are hoping to meet up with her mother, and see pic of what the house once was.  As far as progress on the house, it’s slow, but we are moving ahead.  Move in is scheduled for Spring 2015.

This is the time of year when we begin to look toward the holidays.  For us here at Hazel’s House, this is our most exciting, busy, exhausting, amazing time of year.

Thanksgiving will again consist of a family dinner for our neighborhood.  The past couple of years we have served 300+ out of Hazel’s House.  The first year we were in a Hazel’s House I realized that it was the end of the month, and our neighbors are out of food stamps & food.  I could not set down to my family dinner knowing that there were those in my own neighborhood going hungry.  So…..what do you do?  You scrap the family meal, and cook for the neighbors.  We will be collecting turkeys & and all the fixins’.  If you are interested in donation to Thanksgiving dinner, give me a call, or send me a message.  We will also be looking for volunteers to host our neighborhood families.    YOU CALL IT A DONATION, WE CALL IT LOVE IN ACTION!!

The Hazel’s House located on Morrill Avenue, 1/2 block off Parsons Avenue had taken on a new project.  We have teamed up with Southeast Mental Health to reach those who are homeless, or living in abandoned houses.  On Wednesday afternoons we offer a hot lunch, coffee, an opportunity to shower, and meetings with a Southeast representative to assist with outstanding warrants, mental health appointments, and potential housing.  Keep us in your prayers as we love “the least of these”.  If this would be of interest to you, we are looking for people to provide lunch, meet & greet, and reach out to these.  Call or contact me.

In a few short weeks Christmas trees will be up, and it will be time to start the Christmas shopping.  Last year we provided 106 families with everything for their Christmas dinner, and toys for all the children in the home.  This year we will be provided with 200 wagons, can we fill those up?  Can we count on you?  The cost to sponsor a family is $75.  We will also be looking for people to help sort items, wrap gifts, and of course, deliver wagons on Christmas Eve morning.  Remember it is more blessed to give, than to receive.

We could not do what we do, without you, our partners.  No gift is too small, thank you, thank you, thank you for believing in the cause.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:13-15.
