Meet Our Team

Founders-Dan & Cindi Gremling

Dan & Cindi Gremling are the founders of Hazel’s House.  In 2011, while living in Pickaway County, surrounded by trees, and no neighbors, they took the leap of faith and moved to the original Hazel’s House, 1/2 off Parsons Avenue, in the south end of Columbus, Ohio.  The neighborhood was one of the least desirable in the city, but the people gripped their heart.    Their mission was one to love and honor the neighbors.  They lived in a house on the block, they were girls on the corner, or one of the drug boys doing business. Their goal was to relay to them that there is something more than this block, and that they were created for more.  We believe that love can make a difference.

In 2013 the Gremlings took custody of Freddie, a 3-year-old from the neighborhood.  They have since moved to Sunbury, Ohio to open The Sunbury House, a home for pregnant women.

Cindi-My name is Sherri Palmer and I manage the Keep Columbus Beautiful program for the City of Columbus. I was just made aware of mini grants through ADAM H. Our program works on litter abatement, beautifcation projects and one of its major impact areas is Parsons Avenue. we are seeking people to help with litter abatement, graffiti removal etc. on the Ave. Not knowing exactly the details of the population you serve, I wondered if community service was part of their recovery process and if a grant for this effort could help support your organization while helping us achieve our mission of a clean and safer Parsons Avenue.

I work at the dollar tree on s high st and I met a very nice woman today( I don’t know her name). she was buying plates for a funeral and we began to talk. she told me about the organization and shared with me the story about the girl in the hotel room. I choked up because this issue is very close to my heart. As a previous drug abuser and prostitute I was helped out a few years ago by the salvation army human trafficking program and I am truly grateful. I have been trying to get into contact with them to “give back” but have been unsuccessful. I believe God placed this woman in path for a reason. I would love to help out in any way I can. I think this is an awesome organization although I have never heard of hazels house before today. Please contact me with any volunteer opportunities you may have, I would love to help in any way such a beautiful cause. Thank you.

Today (Sunday, Dec. 21) I heard the news from WBNS about the need for volunteers to help with deliveries of food and contribution/donation. I am much honored and happy to help out if Hazel”s House could permit me. I am available for the holidays, including this week. Please let me know. And, thanks for the much needed and great care that your organization extend to the community.
